What are the advantages of a FF (FX) sensor, if the image quality of the DX camera is the same ?

1) given, the slightly larger viewfinder image, but the DX is completely satisfactory anyway.

2) the FX wider angle of view for any given focal length, but then the widest DX Nikon lens  provides virtually the same range, and the Sigma 8~16 DX beats anything Nikon has to offer, matching Sigma's own FX 12~24 for width.

Otherwise the image quality of the D7100 is identical to the D600. With its finer pixel pitch, even better resolving power.   With the superior sync 1/250 of the D7100, it is a better camera overall.  So much for product placement theories, with all their different conclusions and inconsistencies, and which don't seem to predict with any reliability the releases of Nikon's DSLRs.

Product placement theorists here, a few years ago, dismissed the idea that the next Nikon after the D200 should have Live View, saying that it would never happen, and that it should never happen.  Within the following year the D300 arrived with Live View.

I suggest the p.p. theorists wait for a year, and that they will see a D600S, or D600N, or D610 with the 1/250 sync.
