Using formulae as a guide is OK but you really have to do what is best for you.

There does seem to be a growing consensus that high resolution sensors have a tendency to reveal micro-blurring which was not so usual with lower resolution setups.

I know that it is a crude way of explaining the phenomenon but a photo of two small dots framed in one sensel will appear as one dot but if the two dots appear in adjoining sensels then two separate dots will be seen in the image. If these dots move slightly due to camera shake then the lower resolution sensor may not  register the slight movement but a high resolution sensor will ?
