The SD1 is as good as it gets in my opinion, which I am sure is not shared by everyone.

- It is more flexible than the DPxM cameras, because of the lens choices. Especially, if you want to use longer or ultra-wide lenses, the SD1 is preferable.

- It is faster than the DPxM cameras, especially for matrix shooting. You can gauge the overlaps better in the viewfinder (using the focus points) and work faster across a sweep, when there is a pretty high wind, as in this one (see the leaves on the left):

- It is heavier and has a viewfinder. This makes it easier to hold steady without a tripod. Combined with the good OS lenses, this makes it easier to use in the field under certain conditions.

The downsides are:

- Weight and bulk

- Non-matched lenses

Hello Laurence,

thank you for sharing your impressions and your pictures, I appreciate it. Well, of course the SD1 is better than the DP Merrill for Ultra-WA and tele use, since the DP Merrills aren't of any use under 28mm and above 75mm which is exactly why I am seriously thinking about moving to a Foveon-based DSLR. to get the same look in a more flexible package.

Do you have anything shot with a WA, besides the great 70-200 samples you shared? That would be very much appreciated indeed. All the best, and thanks again

Vieri
