Extinct by extermination – early settlers hunted them out of existence out of fear and ignorance. Not just Ontario - pretty much anywhere east of the Rockies in North America.

Being a large carnivore requiring a large territory this was unfortunately possible. (Unlike coyotes which have replaced them)

The plan for this fall is to use a remote game camera to narrow down time and location and then tree stand or boat blind out on the water. You will never get close if you are on the ground they will pick up your scent and be gone.
