For example, if you type in a percentage on a photocopier it works in linear dimensions. I think if you asked the average person for a print half the size of an 8x10 you'd likely get a 4x5.

Possibly - but that still doens't make it correct.

If you asked me for 1/2 a 8x10 page, I'd give you a 4x10 or 8x5.

Nice switch you made between "size" and "page".

it was not deliberate..

An 8x10 photo is an 8x10 page.. 1/2 of it is not 4x5..

"Half the size" and "a half page" is not interpreted equally in everyday language.

Since you are so overly obsessed with making your point, fallacious as it is..

I'd give you a 8x5 whether you asked for 1/2 the size of an 6 x 10 OR 1/2 the page of an 8 x 10.

None or your attempts to discredit and ridicule me will get away from the simple fact that 1/2 of an 8 x 10 is NOT 4 x 5... 4x5 is 1/4 of an 8 x 10.

But, hey, you go on believing what your want to..

So you're going to claim that if a client walked in and said "this 8 x 10 photo is too small, can you give me one twice this size?" you'd print them an 11.32 x 14.14 instead of a 16 x 20?

Would you really expect them to say "can you make this 4 times larger" if they wanted a 16 x 20. Nobody and I mean NOBODY (not even you) would ask that way.
