In reasonable light the AF rivals the capabilities of a "pro" DSLR for tracking moving objects, all in a lightweight, compact package.

Not only does it have wicked fast AF, it can shoot 30 still images in half a second and track action in focus at 10 frames per second.  It also has a large buffer that rivals most DSLRs and freeze action at 1/16000 at a second.  It can also shoot video at 400 fps and 1200 fps. The Nikon 1 cameras are exceptional in this regard.

Yep, pretty hard to beat the Nikon 1 for the price.

(Actually, pretty hard to beat the Nikon 1 at any price for that sort of shooting, methinks)

Negative. As discussed, with continuous AF when shooting RAW files the Nikon 1 is limited to 10FPS, a number which several dSLR's equal. In addition, it has some significant drawbacks in lens selection that make it unlikely that someone serious about sports photography would choose it over a dSLR system.
