1.7 stops, that is one heck of a lot, but seriously for flash, don`t rely on histograms, use a flash meter.

I rely on results, never on a flash meter, though I do have one.

Just now three shots across the room, direct flash, top row the 16:9 jpegs, bottom row the ORFs. Daylight but a bit dim due to curtains.

Left is TTL flash with plus 1.3, middle TTL flash with 0 flash comp, right the ambient exposure.

All at ISO 400, E-PL5 + FL-300R, f/4.0 at 1/200 sec, lens at 16mm. Thumbnails from FastStone Viewer. I get the same results with any Pen and flash combination.

Checking the left plus 1.3 shot the histogram still shows underexposure, but looks good on the screen.

Also tried ceiling bounce, 'tis an off white ceiling so mucks it up, but got much the same histogram as number 1 for plus 1.3 flash comp, image looks good, though histogram shows about a stop under. Woefully underexposed with 0 flash comp and bounce.

Regards...... Guy
