Please excuse the crappy images, but just took these and uploaded them to show that the statement that metering mode has no effect is not correct. It may be the case for µFT, but it sure as heck isn't for regular 4/3rds.

The images were taken without any controls. Just sitting on a chair. No tripod or any of that sort of thing.

Better controlled conditions will show that there is around 2/3 to 1 stop variation from mode to mode, hugely dependent on the subject, and how much of the frame it occupies. As this subject is highly reflective, it tends to minimise the differences. I was also using the on-camera flash, as have just woken up.

Introducing a bright object into the corner of an otherwise dark scene may have some effect on matrix metering, depending on its size (i.e. the area of the frame covered). Otherwise it is only one of 51 metering points factored into the exposure, so will have little to no effect, even in matrix mode.

The metering mode is set in the camera, and is a function of what parts of the camera electronics are activated. How can this NOT have an effect on the way that any light source, including flash, is metered?

No PP. Downsizing done by web upload s/w. Full EXIF data should be preserved in each image.

Bird Control Officers on active service.

See I`m not on my own here, strange Canon now has several flash settings, average or evaluated.
