DSLR sales may be growing if you take only a 2010-2012 snapshot, but they are down from their peak in 2006 if you take a 2000-2012 snapshot, courtesy of the global recession, which killed camera sales in general in 2008-2009.

Say what?  Growth (as a percentage) has decreased mainly because the base level has increased.  From the graphs, DSLR sales grew by 3 million units from 2011-2012.  How many DSLRs were sold in 2006?  About 5.25 million. Total.

So is this growth new adopters, which would be genuine growth, or is it existing people who were hunkered down during the recession, and are just now doing a refresh? Can't really say.

Can't say anything if you don't have the numbers right.
