It's similar, but not identical.  (I have an XA, XA1, XA2, & XA3).

It is about compactness, not ray angle.

It's about both. The RX-100 has it too.

These elements cause the rays to be oblique. This was a big problem with digital but lately the manufactures have learned to offset microlenses to compensate. With a single lens to design to oblique rays are no longer a problem.
