Ciao,

as you know i do landscapes and use sd1 merrill,

also Lea Tippett uses it.

You can find in my posts and in Lea's posts lots of images shot with it.

For my experience, I'm satisfied with this combo: 8-16 (for dramatic wide-angle effect), 20mm f1.8 (despite the critics, works very well with the sd1 as a "normal" wide angle lens), and 24-70 f2.4 (very very sharp). The last two use the same filters (82mm) and that's a plus.

Hope it can help

Ciao Marco,

thank you for your message. Interesting remark about the 20mm f1.8, I have read very bad stuff about it: can you please tell me more? How is it in the corners? Sharp / not so sharp / mushy?

Thanks, best

Vieri

I'v not owned it but looking at the ASPC and FF tests at Photozone it seems like the 20mm 1.8 is much better suited to the former. On ASPC at F/5.6 its giving slightly better results than the the 8-16mm is at the long end at F/5.6, its still soft at larger appatures but for landscape use it seems like it might be a good fit.
