I believe FF is coming to the NEX. It's already here in camcorder form, and I believe the rumors of a FF still body. I also believe it's eventually inevitable in the mainstream NEX bodies too for these reasons:

  • As technology advances production costs will drop
  • A FF sensor can be put into even a small NEX body
  • A FF sensor can be cropped to APSC, so a FF sensor can be used as an APSC sensor
  • A FF sensor can offer pixel-shift image stabilization on crops of the frame; IBIS without the weight and heat of a mechanical system
  • A FF sensor can make software zooming genuinely useful
  • A FF sensor can allow flexibility in lens designs; some lenses (like a FF 50mm f/1.4) are better/cheaper/smaller on FF
