It is interesting to see all the different opinions here, but don't forget that cell phone cams are currently dominant for pictures.   As the smaller sensors get better at handling noise, there will be no need for large sensors.   That's the future.  Full frame will still be there, but more for pros.  I am amazed at what my iPhone can do right now.   Sales of consumer grade phone has been decimated by the smart phones.  Capability of these sensors will continue  to improve.
