No, not "most"; "All or worse". Photo sensors, you see, are easier to design and manufacture the smaller they are, so for sensors of equivalent generations and given constant DOF, the smaller one will be at least as good, but likely better in proportion to the difference in sensor size.

In other words, if you compared your smartphone and your SLR at equivalent DOF and shutter speed, raising the ISO to compensate, the smartphone would cream your puny SLR;

If you're comparing based solely on DoF that's not a very logical comparison considering the nature of the smaller sensor. After all, the smaller sensor would have a huge advantage in terms of aperture allowing the use of significantly lower ISO.

Compare based on actual exposure and the cards would crown a different king.
