Transfer Photo Database To New Hard Drive
Hope this is the right forum for an answer to my question; my photo storage HD is two thirds full and I am installing a larger capacity drive. Currently all my photos (about 20000) are on the F: drive and so my plan is this; Install new drive and copy all photos across to the new drive, call it G: drive. This appears simple enough but I also need to move my Lightroom 4.4 catalogs onto the new drive. Clearly when I next start Lightroom the links will be missing and I suspect it will take some time to renew the links. Is there an easier way of doing this? For example, having copied everything onto the new drive can I rename it back to F: drive? I am also having to upgrade my NAS device which I use as back up as space is short on this as well (last back up failed because of insufficient space). Any advice would be most welcome as to the best sequence of completing this upgrade.
