I've recently been toying with doing the same thing.  However it seems as if there is another factor which should be considered.  As you change the focus, you are also changing the magnification.

Is this a real problem or only an imagined one?  Do Helicon or CS6 correct for this?

John

I noticed a change in image size when shifting focus, possibly more so in macro. The Auto Align/Auto Blend in Photoshop seems to sort it out though.

I have moved from a part of my house with a wooden floor for the reason mentioned, you could see the effect of moving on the live view image. My front office has a solid floor - problem solved.
