You have my complete sympathy, and gratitude also, that I'm not the only one.

Same thing happened to me.   Bathroom was set up to produce a waterfall effect with three shower heads,  loud noise and billowing steam.   Quite distracting.  Instead of adjusting my Arca Swiss head, I released the camera onto the tile floor.  Camera was OK.   14-24/2.8 split in two near the lens mount.

Repair was about $765 at APS.   They seem to have replaced everything but the glass.   I didn't like the focus after repair.  They said my problem was impossible, but send it in anyway.  Now it works perfectly.   They are not hostile to customers like Nikon.

Reading this thread, I realize I should have made an insurance claim.   We buy Chubb insurance which costs an arm and a leg, but is famous for paying claims.  They wouldn't have batted an eye, on the one hand.   On the other, I really bought it to cover largers claims than this.  Oh wait, I think I have a $5,000 deductible.  Never mind.

Time to have more coffee.
