Sometimes. The networked disk needs to properly support AFP. See here: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11171

It may be best to have multiple partitions on the disk, one for TM and one for the PC/Other files. Otherwise Time Machine will keep filling the disk with as many old backups as it can hold. If you don't want to do that, you might be able to limit TMs storage using quotas on the NAS.
