Some quite bad observations from DxOmark in the article that (again) lead me to conclude that their credibility is quite poor. Pointing out that for example the average sharpness score between the cameras is roughly equal is a useless observation as it is based on the average sharpness (and potentially read into that age) of the entire sample of lenses used.

The point is, that with a normal, varied collection of lenses, the improvement between a 5D3 and a D800 is not going to be as large as the pure numbers tell you.

The next point is, that with the correct lens on the D800 you will see much of that difference.

The third point is, you will not see that difference across all your lenses.

Information which is of large practical use. At least in my opinion.

But did you really need DxO to tell you this? I doubt it. The thing that I find surprising is how many people seem to be surprised to figure out that if you want to get the most out of a good imaging system, you have to use a good lens.

It doesn't compare best possible results (where the result is quite obvious).
