Another lucky winter ...
Apr 4, 2013

... as I watch three rural red foxes living in the woods next to my house.

They only come at night to my garden for a snack and I use an infra-red night vision monocular to video them. Unfortunately, that is monochrome and low quality but enables me to watch their behaviour. One has had a litter of kits on 8th March and looks in great condition. The male (probably the father of the litter as I see them often together feeding without any animosity), is bigger and bolder.

He is a handsome lad and I attach two photos taken at night with flash using the infra-red as the viewfinder for the blind shoot with my Canon 5D at max ISO (3,200). Not a patch on the 102,400 ISO of the 5D Mk III but I can't afford to keep changing cameras these days. Hence the grainy background but it's his portrait that counts to me.

Cheers, Tony.
