FWIW, if I wanted to travel really light and had a D800 (I don't), I could probably get by with just the 16-35/4 VR at 1.5 lbs.

D800, Voigtlander 28/2.8, Nikkor 45/2.8. Both lenses are pancakes. How's that for small, light?

How about EPL-5, Lumix G 14mm f/2.5, Lumix 20mm f/1.7 and Voigtlander Nokton 25mm f/0.95?

Sure, not bad. Maybe drop the 20mm and 25mm and just go with Panasonic 25/1.4?

Personally, I like the bigger camera cause of the handling and couple of other reasons, but yeah, easy to get a small and capable combo these days. There's something for everyone.
