I disagree that you've selected areas in focus for both cameras.  Cole already noted that the large sticker on the larger electrical box was the focal point - not the post to the left nor plants to the right.  Even though the EXIF data is missing the aperture, the shutter speed difference indicates that the apertures are indeed different - as is the DOF.

It looks more to me that the focal point is different and therefore there's no directly-comparable section in this example.

The output of those images are consistent with the rest.... including the speed limit sign...... or was that miss focused as well? While the HS50 has an excellent feature set... and very enviable AF and shot to shot times .... It's lens does not match the FZ200 for resolve imo. You forget, the panny lens was additionally crippled with multiple layers of additional glass, in front of its lens... yet it STILL produced superior IQ. Where the HS50 will have the advantage is beyond the FZ200's 600mm reach .... and of course much faster AF.
