Not many trees survive in Iceland...

It is certainly a country devoid of vegetation generally speaking - lava fields everywhere.

It is a stunning place, and pretty empty once you get away from Reykjavik. I was there in May 2011 with my NEX-5 and took a few (not artistic, just touristy) snaps:

I see you experienced the country at a warmer time of the year - I shall be back there over the warmer months next time to see the interior and visit places like Thingvilier to see the still evolving landscape and movement from the giant fissure in the ground. And also the wild north west peninsula.

So much to see, so little time
