True that.... but I'm not after noise vs noise.... color tone vs color tone.... I'm after pure resolving power ... and since dollar bills are printed off the same plate(s) .. it's the next best thing to being there. I could have said... take your best picture of the moon... and I'll do the same.. but the moon lacks sufficient detail to arrive at any sensible conclusion.

It's not only the noise, Nightwings. Light impacts the clarity of the image as well as resolution [resolving power].

I get where you're going with this. But it needed to be said that it's not a good method of determining resolving power because ideal light is the #1 element for maximum clarity and resolution in imagery.
