Soooooo, the working theory here is that I'm either blind, senile, or a combination of the two. When the D7000 first came out you may remember some of the earliest testers noting a slight lack of sharpness to D7000 images, which was chalked up to a stronger AA filter by some, so I'm not the first by far to make this observation, whatever the merits, or lack thereof may be.

"To be fair my current D7000 also seems to lack the sharpness my D300 had"...But as you can see from the example above...that does not appear to be the case. Maybe those earliest testers had not yet learned to work with the new files.
