Exactly what is worse about Win 8 other than Metro?
Apr 1, 2013

I have multiple systems. I did put Win 8 on my ASUS tablet; Win7 64 is on all of my other machines.  I put Start8 on my Win8 machine - it boots directly into the Win Classic user interface and I never see Metro unless I open it on demand - useful when mobile without a keyboard and mouse.

What exactly is the problem with Win 8 otherwise and be specific.  I see some very improvements even in the classic Windows user interface over Win7 and Win 8 is better performance wise on almost all measures, including native USB 3.0 support and higher I/O performance with SSDs (just a few percent, but every bit counts).

So I am wondering if the negative reactions are due entirely to Metro because otherwise in almost every respect Win 8 (booting into the Classic Windows UI and ignoring metro) seems like a better OS than Win 7 - can someone enlighten me please?

Regards,
Mike
