Why not get the nikon 1 v1 while you still can for 300-400$? Coming from an older fixed lense camera you will see a huge improvement in image quality, althought not as good as the om-d.

However since kids sports is so high on your list the nikon 1 v1 would actually be a bit better in that aspect, especially if its outdoor sports. For landscapes and high iso it will be slightly worse

The only thing it doesn't have thats on your list is a built in flash so if you want that you have to get the nikon 1 v2.

The things you write that is better in the nikon d5100 aren't really better, except the built in flash, and like everyone else said there's no such thing as a "compact" dslr since the lenses are HUGE
