D90 is a gem in this regard. You can shoot f/8 1/200th all day long with auto ISO on. The only thing to watch for is overexposure when in direct sunlight.

The fact is that Nikon has taken a very usable auto ISO implementation with flash implementation and replaced it with one that is so bad that people such as yourself will recommend not to use auto ISO at all with flash.  That is a terrible step backwards. If there's a workaround like this you bet I'm going to want to share it.

I am with you Sammy on that. D7100 is a very significant upgrade over D90 but this specific feature gets in the way instead of helping.
