In the end, Adobe, like other businesses, will do whatever they believe will bring in the most revenue. If the subscription model does not win user acceptance, they will probably change their policy on upgrades.

Personally, I went ahead and upgraded last year to CS6, even though I had upgraded to CS5.5 the year before, just so that I'd still have the option to upgrade to CS7 whenever that comes out (probably next year). I may go to the Cloud eventually if that makes economic sense to me, but with the discounted upgrade price offered last year it was better for me to stay with the purchase option for at least one more cycle.

I don't have much emotion invested in this - I like the Creative Suite software, and would like to stay with it as long as I can afford it. But I don't see getting angry over the situation. "It's business, not personal."
