they are both around the same price.

if u had to choose , which one would u get.

Also which lens u think will hold more resale value over time.

the 200 is more rare , they dont make as many as they do the 300.

For what I shoot as a hobby, portraits, travel/vacation and sports with my family. I would choose the truly remarkable and absolutely stunning 200 f2.0 especially the bokeh over the fantastic 300 f2.8 all else being equal on D700/D300 combo that I use. The 200 is a very versatile lens on my D300 at 300 f2.0 and with a TC2 it would be at 600 f4. Is is equal or better than a image taken on 600 f4 IQ wise? I would say definitely no but not too far off the bar for what I do since I rarely print larger than 11x14.;-)

Here's another perspective, today I just picked up my nikkor 70-200mm f2.8 VRII and 85mm f1.4G with the 35mm f1.4G coming next week for about the same cost as a nikkor 200mm f2.0. As remarkable as the 200 is I would not give up the 3 shining star lenses for it. I also own the nikkor 24-70mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4G and 85mm f1.4D lenses as well that completes my kit.:-)

For resale value the 200 would be a notch higher just because its rarer and also the bokeh would be better than the 300 if both were shot side by side wide open.

Once my mortgage is paid off, i will have more spending money to get the 200mm f2 in about 10 years or sooner. I live in a city that is ranked as one of the most expensive cities in the world to buy a home in.
