I'm not sure what you are referring to when you ask about "tolerances". It is basically one piece of metal. It is designed to fit the staionary portions of the lens it is sold for. It doesn't move at all. It fits between the moving focus rings, etc. of the lens. If you are referring to the plate that mounts onto the ball head, it is no different than any other tripod mounting plate. It has the normal threaded screw that fits into the tripod mounting plate. My tripod mounting plate (and, I have three tripods that all fit it) has a slot that you can move back & forth (or, side to side). But, that slot has nothing to do with how it attaches to the tripod. It simply screws into the normal tripod threaded screw on any tripod plate. You don't need any adapter, if thats what you are asking. Hope that answers your concern.
