Maybe the OP has over rated his talent and it's him and not the market ? I know MANY photographers in my area that set up shop, and think that just because they are now calling themselves a photographer, have a website and facebook page, that the whole world will be busting down their door. Their work is mediocre, but if you tell them that, then they get all offended instead of asking how they can make it better. EGO is the biggest business buster in our profession. People are too vain to admit that they lack the skill, style and business acrumens to be successful.

I know that I'm not the best wedding or portrait photographer, so I price accordingly. I work

in a particular market and realize that. Some photographers never realize that and try to charge like the big dogs do. You just can't do that. We all have to work within our talent and business

realities.
