70-200mm lenses and options
Mar 28, 2013

I am getting a 70-200mm lens for my newly acquired D800. I see that the Nikon 70-200 F4 is getting great reviews. I am wondering whether 70-200 + 85mm F1.8G lens combo will be as good as getting 70-200 F2.8 VR II lens.

With the exceptional high ISO performance of D800 (ISO 6400 is quite fine), I am wondering whether it would be worth to carry 70-200 F2.8 VR II lens.

Another option is to get the new Tamron 70-200 VC lens. Do not know how it will be performed (I am always worried about the generic lenses). I read that Tamron has got some excellent reviews in the Canon mount.

For walkaround lens option, I had similar dilemma and finally settled with 28, 50 lenses and 24-120mm lens.
