Yes whoever planned out their publications layout and testing regime knows something about marketing. Photozone does better and more easy to read lens graphs, and DPR has more expansive RAW sensor coverage, but DxO gets all of the buzz because they reduce a complex set of variables into a simple number.

In other words, people spend lots of time pouring over the various review sites, but probably the majority don't read the reviews in depth... maybe that explains why DxO is such a hook. That or DPR people just like saying stuff about them...
