Fixed Focal Length Lenses ?
Mar 27, 2013

Can someone please explain how a prime Fixed Focal Length Lenses works, in comparison to a zoom lens say the 50-200mm? If you have the Zuiko Lens ED 150mm f2.0 does it zoom from 0-150mm or is it always at the 150mm mark?  I can't think that it would always be at the 150mm mark, but I have no experience with these type of lenses.  What are the advantages/disadvantage of have a fixed focal length lens.  Why spend the extra money on these type of lenses, are they really worth it?

Can some please post images from a FFL and a zoom lenses and offer an explanations between the images, so us visual learn ears can grasp this.

Feel free to add anything else in that is pertinent to this topic for the sake education.

Thank you.

Rick
