I remember seeing that, but if I'm shooting available light and suddenly need to add a little light for a shot, it is much easier to just press the button on the side of the camera and take the shot than to rummage around in my camera bag, take the time to add the flash to the camera, and then take the shot. The extra time to find and connect the flash could mean missing the shots I intended to take. (I could just make a habit of leaving the small flash on the camera at such events, but that's adding bulk when I won't need the flash at 90% of the events.)
