RX100 video: 50/60i is in fact 25p/30p or not? And how to deal with it?
Mar 26, 2013

I have read that 50/60i is in fact 25p/30p, it is only stored in interlaced fashion.

Anyway, ideally I would like to shoot in 25p/30p but I have difficulties playing or dealing with interlaced footage. I know NLEs like FCP X are able to read 50i footage in 25p timeline etc., but not all footage is meant for NLE postproc.

Is there a possibility to 're-wrap' the 50i file to simply re-gain the original 25p/30p footage, thus being playable in QT etc.? - without de-interlacing it, I understand that de-interlacing introduces artifacts. I have clip-wrap (using a  Mac).

Confusing stuff - ideally I would simply like to shoot in 25p. I dislike 50p/60p. Any suggestions to make life easy without sacrificing IQ (>mpg)?
