The guy here

claims that 60/50i 24M AVCHD setting compresses much less than 50p (60p respectively in PAL) per image = less artifacts.

However, as I have understood 50i stores half an image, which is why you get these interlacing lines when playing the footage in Quicktime or elsewhere. So, basically above guy is wrong that 50/60i provides best per pixel image. Or am I missing something?
