New monitor - is hardware calibration needed since pre-calibrated?
Mar 25, 2013

I just picked up a new Dell u2413.  I'm very pleased with the monitor, and a big improvement over my older Dell TN panel.  The monitor is pre-calibrated for AdobeRBB and sRGB.  I realize calibrating it with a new colorimeter might further improve the accuracy of the colors somewhat, but how necessary is it really to do this?  Would it only make a very marginal improvement, if any at all?   Unfortunately, the monitor requires the $250 xRite i1Display pro for hardware calibration, which I don't particularly want to have to buy right now.
