I just wanted to thank you for one thing - your instruction to 'feather' the selection.  After years of Photoshopping, I've never used that function for blending.  I've transformed selections, and expanded/contracted them by tiny increments - but never thought to use a large amount for blending.  It's a quick alternative to using the history brush.

Never too old to learn!
