I haven't even owned the D5100 for a year yet and several of the buttons are almost completely black... no more 'ok' no more '+' and the pic review button and the '-' button are on the way out too. Combined with dirt in the viewfinder that stares at me every time I look through it (that can not be cleaned out) I now have serious doubts whether my camera has much resale value at all. No other camera I have ever owned has had a problem with the writing wearing off the buttons or dirt being trapped inside the front of the viewfinder, does anyone else have similar issues?

Is this just more of the same poor Nikon quality control or is this just a camera that is put together cheaper than a Fuji superzoom?

The camera looks worn out after only 10 months!!

To answer your initial question no, I don't rub the buttons, I press them.
