100D is the first step of a new and right direction

100D is a very promising product. Many casual shooters who buy low end SLR do not need 25 buttons and 1 inch deep grip.  They want something that can just fit into any bag and they shoot scene mode or auto mode anyway. 100D appeals to that market more than any other aps-c DSLR ever did.

My only reservation is the aging sensor and the toy like looks. But as the first step towards this direction, i think it is a good attempt. If 100D had a better sensor and a more sophisticated look it would be a huge hit.

If it works out to be a good seller, nikon will follow, new lenses designed to be small will follow. That is what low end SLRs should look like - small and light. 1100D and D3200 line will be redundant and can discontinue.

Canon EOS 100D (EOS Rebel SL1) Canon EOS 1100D (EOS Rebel T3 / EOS Kiss X50) Nikon D3200
