I have a great respect for the problems you must face teaching beginners who come with cameras that might not even have basic aperture or shutter controls, etc. But why the bloody triangle? It really doesn't make sense. The only thing triangular about these three concepts is that there are three of them.

From http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/6598/what-is-the-exposure-triangle

The above is from What is the exposure triangle? Where a guy laments over the concept. As he writes: "If you attach any actual meaning to the dimensions of the sides or the angles of the corners, not only is there no relationship to the area or size of the triangle, many settings yield impossible triangles even though they're perfectly valid exposure settings."

And that is just without going into the whole ISO thing, and what we meter or expose for. He then tries to jam in ISO too, but that discussion is already ongoing, so we'll let that slide for now. The above is a better way of visualising reciprocity, in my opinion, than the triangle.
