How long does a lens have to be, to be an issue for a Tripod?

Trust me, you will need a very big tripod to go with a 300mm lens. Load capacity rating mean very little on the tripod world. Go to a store, mount you point and shoot on a cheap tripod, zoom to the max and look at the liveview on the lcd, touch you camera lightly and see how much your frame move. The heavier the camera, the more it move. Imagine what happen when the mirror on a dslr move when you take a picture.
