I never meant to say the iPad could hold only 200 photos (!). What I meant was that beyond a certain number (for me it's around 200…) handling them, viewing and organising them is a "bit" complicated on the iPad. IMHO.

Also, being dependant on wifi AND dropbox to offload photos seems a bit risky too. I've been to places (Cambodia, Vietnam, Cuba) where there is no wifi, or no internet at all. What do you do then?

You do that with the albums feature built into the Photo app. Each time you import, select all for the last import and create an album for that day.
