neither of these indicates the innovation necessary to even cause ripples in the pond.

I am sure the EOS-B, the camera mentioned in Thom's blog, would be a more serious camera than the EOS-M. And don't under-estimate the marketing strength of the leading brand or the intelligence (of the lack thereof) of those who follow the leading brand name, especially those in a certain continent.

Hint: People are still buying their DSLRs and mirrorless cameras are not making much inroad as yet.
