Advantage Aperture:

- better RAW color rendition by a significant margin (at least with Sony RAW)

- overall quality in terms of GUI, software design and file handling concept

Advantage Lightroom:

- frequent updates (although $$$)

- possibly more future-proof (Apple is known for ditching Pro software out of the blue)

- camera/lens profiles

- functionally more à-jour

I use Aperture, since for me RAW conversion quality is better.

Sorry, but I just can't understand your post. Aperture is completely useless for RAW with Sony NEX cameras because it does not correct for lens distortion. Pictures from my SEL35F18 as well as SEL1650 are useless, and since I have Aperture I am forced to shoot in JPG.

pineapple - this is the term my granddaughters say I must use instead of stupid - they tell me I cant tell you what you just posted is "stupid" I must be nice and say "pineapple"

So - you do know that there are many plugins for Aperture that do correct for lens distortion dont you?
