I agree with that. Nikon is committed to AF-S. Canon, their biggest competitor, makes nothing but AF lenses with motors in them (yes I know about the several TS-E lenses which are manual focus).

I totally agree with both of you. Though Nikon may continue to make some AF-D and AIS lenses, new glass will be AF-S for sure until some new advancement comes about. I don't think there's a chance on earth any new design will devolve back to a screw driver AF system.

That said, I kind of hate losing the aperture ring with the G series lenses, but that's a different story altogether.
