Why not use Pentax?

I recently bought a K-30 after researching all the alternatives.  In the same price range it's got more features, better image quality, better low light performance, higher fps rate, better ergonomics, weather resistance, in-body shake resist, etc.., etc... compared to the Canon, Nikon, and Sony cameras.

Canon has a fold out touch screen. Sort of neat.

Sony has higher fps but at the cost of losing the optical viewfinder and some light loss - plus the extra fps isn't that important anyway.

I never did find much of anything to recommend Nikon, their lineup seems completely bonkers to me with a big gap between their cheapy cameras and their nicer cameras.

The biggest loss of going with Pentax is that I can't borrow/rent lenses as easily.  I figure this is of a lot less importance than all the positives though.
