Something does not add up

Did nothing sophisticated: just zoomed in on the same objects in ISO 100, 1600, 6400 pictures of the D7000 and D7100. The D7000 is considerable sharper than the D7100 every time. Granted that the D7000 pictures cover a slightly smaller area, so all things being equal the D7000 should come out slightly sharper. But the difference is far more noticable and of course runs counter to the increased number of pixels and lack of AA filter of the D7100. If my observations are correct there is either a serious flaw with the D7100 or with these tests. I want to think it is the latter.
